Grin Regenerative Braking Means You Capture Energy
Regenerative braking is when your motor acts as a brake and a generator at the same time. This enables you to slow down your bicycle and charge your battery as you go downhill or while stopping. This reduces maintenance for your brake pads and saves energy. It depends on riding conditions, but you can expect to save 8-10% of your battery power on typical rides.
Typical mid drive motors don't have Regen Brakes, so you end up burning through your brake pads faster and wasting energy that you could have captured and stored.
More importantly, it just feels right. Once you ride a bike with regen, you will never want to go back.
